The pool , the breakfast , the staff and the location were beautiful. Nicely done guys.
We heard a little construction noise because they are expanding the place in the morning , maybe moving the timeline to work on the afternoons. Everything else was perfect.

We had booked a pool view bedroom. On the pics from booking.com they show a room ground floor with a superb terrace near the pool. But we received a room that was absolutely not fitting their pictures. We were on first floor, not even a balcony and yes there was a view on the pool but from very far away. That room was totally looking like their standard bedrooms we had booked before. When we complained they said that it was booking fault. I told them that those splendid pool view bedrooms pics were also on their own website but they just kept saying our bedroom had a pool view. The careless way the staff listened to our complaint was not what we were expecting, especially because we were arriving after a long flight from europe early in the morning and no early checkin was available before 2pm even at a fee so we had booked the night before to fit their lack of flexibility.

I returned to Santa Cruz after a loooong time and we got a nice stay even though it was raining and windy: - The breakfast was outstanding (as I remembered) - The rooms were clean and they were comfy. - We did not have a car, but it was pretty easy to take a cab. - The snacks at Tajibar were different but delicious.
The menu (online) at Tajibar needed to be updated In the description it said the hamburger comes with french fries but when I got it there was not any, I was told the menu needed to be updated but I got my french fries without any extra charge (thanks to the personal).

Noise from construction team working on another room only 20 metres away at 10pm. Only when I complained it stopped. Also, the air-conditioning stopped working.

The hotel in contrast of other 5star hotels considering the country was beautiful. The garden architecture and setting was beautiful. The restaurant had variety although a bit expensive for the quality of food at the location. American food made for a diner
Front desk staff and rooms service call was horrible. They were borderline discriminating against us. The delay to have service like an iron or ice sent to the room to about an hour each time. The front desk locked us out of our room twice while we were eating breakfast and hung the phone up on me when I explained someone was at the door. The staff seemed more focused on collecting their tip and fees rather than providing good customer service.

the spa was beautiful and the staff are lovely. the shower power and bed were good too
the shower needed a proper clean and the vent had mould - I have mostly been staying at hostels during my trip which were cleaner. the balcony was dirty and had no furniture to use. the room needs up update too.

if you are a solo woman traveler they will (try to) give you a bad room. I paid extra for a green view and they put me in a room facing the laundry facilities. I had to wait an hour to change rooms after a long trip. The management should give women rooms as nice as those they give men.

Everything. Spacious room, modern bathroom, nice tropical atmosphere (peacocks and a turtle walking around) very friendly staff. We especially liked the poolside restaurant, which had good cocktails, very tasty buffets (brunch on Saturday, grill on Sunday), and works 24h. Spa and pool areas very nice, too. The location is great, very close (walking) to restaurants, malls and only 15min by car to the central square.

Details missed that shouldnt be missed in a 5 star hotel: no robe, no big towels, the bed was not very comfortable/new. The hair dryer was so old, it didnt work

I had mixed experiences during my stay. Some members of the personal were very kind and helpful while others were rude. Those who were rude approached me in several occasions constantly asking if I was a guest or not. This might be ok, if they were asking everyone about this, but those members of the personal were targeting me because of the way I look like. I am a typical tanned Latin-American person. American/European guests were never asked the questions I was asked. This made me feel very uncomfortable. I believe guests must be treated equally regardless how they look like. The Wi-Fi didnt work properly. It worked randomly.

The nature inside the hotel - the swimming pool - bell and valet staff.
Rooms smell humid and moldy. When I ask for a different room due to Mold allergies they moved me with no issue however the room was sprayed with some sort of fabuloso. Which wear down by day 2.
For several regular circumstances I was told 'we don't usually do this, buy we are making an exception" when I asked for silverware or having coffee by the pool (you could have alcoholic beverages but not coffee). Parking was not always available or open. Front desk staff were not helpful and would make up excuses to avoid working and pass the issue to the next host. "Come back later" sort of situation.
