Close to all amenities
The rooms outside where great but it was noisy, you hear when the guests in the next room take a shower and even when they blow their nose

The hospitality.
They have an old rustic asthetic and the wooden floors were squeeky. The beds for the kids were uncomfortable. Very small shower, having to bath small kids in there was a mission.

We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff. Our Room was huge, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The New York Restaurant was recommended for dinner, and is definitely worth the quick walk. Breakfast at the hotel was also delicious.
I honestly cannot fault this hotel on anything.

Service levels are excellent across the board. Nothing is too much trouble and everything is dealt with in a highly friendly and efficient manner.
There was a minor issue with the provision of secure off street parking, but the calm and professional manner in which this was dealt with by night manager negated the problem and it was soon forgotten.

Large and comfortable rooms. Aircon helped for the warm Bloem nights. Staff was friendly and very helpful all the time. Breakfast was very nice with enough options for everyone. Loved the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit themed character rooms. Lovely garden with a nice swimming pool. They also had order in options from nearby restaurants that deliver to them. Would definitely stay there again
Room and pool cleanliness could have been a little better.

Conveniently located. Nice and quiet. Attentive staff.
The glass plane above my door was clear which meant I was woken very early by the sun reflecting directly onto my bed - very very bright. Maybe consider blacking out that glass.

Last year in October I stayed there and gave it an excellent review. I can’t say the same for my most recent stay last week
I booked a 90 square metre room but was shown to a tiny dark room that I was not prepared to accept. I was told by the receptionist that that was what I had booked, which it wasn’t. I was then given a larger room but the tap in the bathroom basin was broken and the shower overflowed due to poor drainage. I am not sure that I would stay there again!

Breakfast was excellent. The hot breakfast choices were fine ie either an omelette or a traditional south african breakfast.
My wife would have preferred plain yoghurt and fresh fruit for breakfast.
Also, the DSTV channels are extremely limited

We had booked without knowing that this is the actual birthplace of Tolkien! Once you are inside it has a very nice atmosphere of an English country house.
We could not park the car at the hotel premises, but hade to leave it at a place further dow the road, which was a biut of a hassle.

The construction is paper-thin, making for a lot of noise in the rooms, especially from the club a few doors down that is open and very loud until 1 am. Nice place, but bring earplugs!
