Very friendly staff, the pool - and the private balcony we had for our two adjoining rooms. Breakfast was also excellent!
We loved the hotel but it was a little noisy early in the morning (the rooms are close to the reception area where staff are working).

There are many things about Clico hotel that are positive - the best being the staff. Peggy and the team were very helpful, polite and attentive to our needs. Peggy was very helpful in offering advice for exploring safely around Johannesburg. Our taxi shuttle service from the airport to the hotel was well organised and our driver Dan was very pleasant. The food was delicious, especially the cooked breakfasts. The location is perfect, it is safe area and we felt comfortable walking to and from the hotel to the local mall for restaurants and shops. The room was very smart, clean and elegant, especially for the price, it was fantastic value for money. If you want a more characterful and comfortable place to stay in Jo'burg that is not a carbon copy chain hotel, then I highly recommend Clico Hotel.

What a nice little gem to stay in and relax. All amenities right on site so you do not have to leave. The chef was absolutely incredible with his service and menu. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner here. All the staff was so nice and accommodating. Our room was huge with a really nice bathroom and terrace overlooking the pool. Everything was very clean. Free parking right outside the front door. We stayed here for one night to rejuvenate before heading out on safari, it was perfect.

The location is perfect. Accessible to everything, however quiet enough that you don't hear anything during the stay. The restaurant and the food were the highlights for me. The staff are excellent and so friendly. It's a quaint hideaway perfect for a weekend getaway.
We traveled with a 2 year old, and there isn't much to entertain him. The resort is also small, and there wasn't much yard space for him to play outdoors, either. So the time we spent at the hotel he had to stay indoors. The bar fridge being placed inside the cupboard is not an ideal place. It brought out unwanted "visitors"

Clico Hotel is in an absolutely beautiful location. The staff were exceptional - they all went out of their way to serve us - indeed everyone here serves from the heart! The ambiance was awesome - we enjoyed our dinner and breakfast in their restaurant. We also loved that there is back up in case there is load shedding in the area. Clico feels like home away from home. I highly recommend them.

The hotel is in a great location, with friendly staff & delicious breakfast. Comfortable king-sized bed, good wifi, and back-ups of electricity and water, which was great.
My room on the ground floor (room 2) was right next to reception and I could hear everything. There are no noise-canceling precautions in place. The guests leaving the restaurant at 23h30 were loud, but I could even hear the printer printing documents, the receptionist (even though she was trying to be quiet); every sound. It made for a terrible night's sleep.

Breakfast (and the rest of the meals) were delicious. They offered both a buffet and a freshly-cooked option for those on the run for tours and for those with more time on their hands. We also had lunch there and the menu was both varied and delicious.
It would have been nice to have instructions on the bathroom heater. We didn't figure that out until Day 2 and we visited in the middle of winter.

The bed was very comfortable. That was probably the only thing that I really liked
There was noise from a party going on on Friday night until sometime after 10pm. The swimming pool was very dirty so we couldn't swim. The air conditioning system is not working in the room. You turn it on to the maximum of 30 degrees and it continues blowing cold air until you are forced to switch it off. The bedside lamps were also not working in my room.

The hotel is in a good location, has back-up power and very pleasant staff. Our airport transfer with Dan was most efficient and we used him for all our local trips (walking even short distances in Joburg is not pleasant).
Our superior room was a good size, but it had an open-plan bathroom and toilet. Ground floor rooms can be noisy at times depending on activity in the reception area.

It is centrally located in upscale Rosebank. easy Uber ride to museums and walkable to African arts & craft center at the bottom of Rosebank mall. Breakfast is included and there is a delicious buffet spread AND a menu to order from. They aim to please and will customize your breakfast to your liking. Front desk staff are knowledgeable and will help you organize your outings and transportation.
Rooms are very small- better for a solo traveler than a couple.
