Rooms are somewhat clean. But that's about it....the property is nothing but a disaster! No social environment, no helpful staff, very weird fishy and uncomfortable environment. If you are traveling solo, avoid at all cost, you will feel super unsafe.
Nobody knows who runs this property. Apparently they also have/had same property at multiple address in Addis Ababa, so taxi drivers get confused. When called the hostel, no one picks up. There are one or two guys who basically loiters around without much help, no receptionist. They don't volunteer towel or free WIFI- you have to ask and toilets are dirty with very low water pressure. No plugs near bed. Beds are rickety and tough. No information from reception, and no reception staff. You basically are clueless during your entire stay who runs the property, what the are norms, what additional information may be available etc. Very very Weird!

The building itself is really nice! Easy to meet other backpackers in the common area & kitchen. The dorm was spacious and facilities are kept clean. Nice staff. Ethiopia is advanced traveler gold - such a unique country!
Location isn't walking distance to much... Have to use RIDE or taxis to get most places. Arrival process after dark is confusing but I figured it out, however for a novice traveler it would be intimidating trying to figure out how to get in. Once inside, the staff was great ?? -the confusing part is on the dark street trying to enter the property gate, etc.
I eventually moved to a more centrally located budget hotel (since was able to use birra to pay instead of credit card - yes, it's one of those countries with a black market exchange rate like Egypt or Argentina). But if you prefer the community aspect, this hostel is a great choice!

Awesome hot shower with really good pressure. Old school villa style house and really helpful, friendly staff. Allowed early check in. And even though I wasn't staying on my last day, I was allowed to shower and stow my luggage before my flight. Noni is a great host, a credit to herself and keeps all the guests informed, happy and well served at the bar too! When the power died, she had a powerbank to lend to charge my phone. She came through :)

Staying there from February to July. I thought I'd get a cheaper/better located/more private accomodation but it is great here and I love it to much. The hostel people are the best, the guests mostly interesting and funny, the dog is the boss but she loves you after you give her treats. It is very clean, the cleaner comes every day and is very accurate and also very nice. They just started to serve food, coffee and tea. It is all great, homemade quality for good price and you can even learn how to do it yourself, for later when you leave and will be missing it.
All issues that may come with just the cities daily challenges will be helped - whether it is no wifi (-> hotspot), getting a ride in the middle of the night (-> they'll get it for you) or finding the nicest restaurant where they still serve Tibbs although it's fasting season (eventually just here xD).
I even invited my parents here and they had a very good time. It is the best place to make german parents to feel good about their daughter staying abroad.
Some guests are not very friendly, but the hostel staff solves it in ways which respect everybodys needs.

Everything! It was a nice hostel, I think the only in Ethiopia, and had a nice crowd of travelers. The host and her sister were very friendly and fun to talk to, especially hearing some of their interesting stories of Ethiopia and unique travelers. There is also breakfast and dinner available and drinks.
The location isn’t central, but Addis is very spread out anyway and for me it wasn’t an issue, especially considering the price. It’s also close to the airport, cost about 200 birr to go there from there hostel.

They helped me out with any issues I had.
One such incident that exemplifies this -
I'd reached hostel one afternoon in a hurry (for visa related work) with muddy shoes (due to passing through nearby construction, path further damaged due to rains),
I left them out so that the indoors don't get dirty, planning to clean them after my work was done.
30 minutes later, after finishing my work, when I stepped out, my shoes were clean & dry.
Masraf had somehow noticed me arriving in a hurry, and cleaned them out of extraordinary thoughtfulness.

BEWARE OF THE DOG: The dog of the guesthouse is so aggressive and dangerous. When you don't defend yourself or guesthouse staff keeps it back, it will attack. On the first evening, while I just sat on the terrace with other guests, it bit me in the leg. For no reason, out of nothing. It damaged my clothes and my leg was bleeding. Staff apologized but didn't really do anything about it (gave me a shot of vodka to disinfect the wound on my leg). Had to fix my clothes and get medicine by myself. When walk around the hostel, always be aware of the dog approaching you. Staff doesn't really do anything to protect the guests. They let the dog go into the common areas, threatening the guests

The staff are great. They were more than helpful to book tours, etc. and accommodated last minute changes for us to switch to a private room. The facility was clean and there are great common areas to meet other travelers. The location is close to stores and restaurants. They also stored a couple bags for us while we went on tours. Would highly reccomend and have already booked a return visit. THANK YOU! Ethiopia has easily become my favourite country to visit.

great place to meet people, easy to find food nearby
The place is in a small alley, none of the taxi drivers managed to find it, was easier to tell them DHL or Blue Sky Hotel and then walk the rest.
The neighbourhood looks a bit intimidating after dark, there are packs of stray dogs roaming the streets, but I never had issues.
The hostel dog likes to bark at people, but it's not really aggressive.
During my stay, there has been blackouts every evening, bringing a headlamp might be useful.
There are two showers for guests, one didn't have hot water, the other one barely had any water coming out, someone told me the staff shower in the basement is better.

Great location where you have easy access to lot busses and not too far from markets. Staff were friendly and nice and the atmosphere of the place was great. WiFi works fine but remember to get the connection for each floor and I felt safe.

The beds were comfortable, the living spaces were very nice and kitchen was well equipped. Internet was good throughout the stay. There is a small and handy convenience store near. The staff was very nice and friendly most of the times. Great location to meet other travellers.
The place is overall good, but for the price the amenities offered are limited and could be improved. Some things that I could point out include that the hostel provides no sheets or towels. You are given a blanket, and at least once the one I got didnt smell clean (I stayed at multiple times). The rooms don't have any place except for a chair to put your things, and the beds offer no privacy. The shower (I only saw one shower room for the whole hostel) was old and there is no curtain, it is a mess anytime someone showered, and there was nowhere to put our dry clothes. And you needed your own towel. More than once there was no toilet paper available, or the toilet was dirty The bar area had potential but there was rarely anyone there available. The hostel is not signposted and getting any UBER/Feres/RYDE to find the location was always an ordeal. And while I really love dogs, the one at the hostel was not a nice one, I often felt worried that Id be attacked. The volunteer staff was short of being rude and inconvenient.

The home-cooked food is absolutely phenomenal! I loved my cute little private room, it was excellent, comfortable and cozy!
On Thursday night, the second night of my stay, there was a lot of loud socializing going on until about 4:00 a.m. which made for an unpleasant night's sleep. Otherwise, my stay was perfect!

This is a wonderful place, a big spacious mansion in a leafy well-heeled district of Addis Ababa -- Bole --, converted to a hostel, surrounded by a beautiful garden. Good kitchen for cooking, meals also available at very reasonable prices.
The only inconvenience is that the hostel is so far from the main centre of the city around Meskel Square and the main Cathedral which means that, unless you take a taxi, it is a very long walk -- 2 hours or so --, through Bole Junction and along Namibia Avenue, much of the way under construction. However, the walk back along Africa Avenue, a vast modern boulevard hearkening to the future of this city and the wonderful country of Ethiopia although also long is very pleasant, especially in the evening.

The place was welcoming and had great communal space to encourage people to work, if necessary, or share a cup of tea. There is a very close "bodega" (a two minute walk) to buy water and other necessary goods. It was an atmosphere that encouraged people of all ages to talk and have fun at night.
The location was very difficult to find. GPS/Google Maps is necessary to find the place.

I liked the high speed WiFi, the friendliness of the staff at the property. Also being able to meet several guests from other nationalities was truly amazing.
I didn't like the barking of dogs at guests(made me freaking scared sometimes) and also dog poop at some places within the property.

The receptionist is very kind and informative. It's in a touristy area and close to the airport. Good place for meeting other people and socializing.
If you plan to stay a month or more it's not very accommodating. They don't give discounts. The food got stolen a lot from the kitchen. Amenities aren't very functional and don't get fixed. I found two bed bugs, but they dealt with it immediately, luckily.

Everything is amazing! The hosts will welcome you since the beginning and make you feel at home. It is one of the best hostels I have ever been to in terms of meeting people, there is a lot of cool travelers. Dogs are friendly, kitchen is big and rooms are big too. Very convenient area as Bole is a cool place. Very close to the airport.

Too pricy for a hostel (or could have been because of my booking at last minute). When I wanted to check in there was no one at the gate. I called but didn’t get response. The hot water wasn’t working for one bathroom.

Great staff, help with directions and taxis, laundry on-site. Cleanest hostel in ADD and options for dorm or private at good value.
A quiet location, but a bit far to Wally to town. But I would still say the BEST in ADD.
