1. It is very noisy in this hotel. Since the restaurant is on the top floor and guest rooms are on first to second floors, every guest can hear noise from the staff whichever floor you are on. Especially at night and in the very early morning, I woke up five times!
2. The staff respond to guest requests very slowly. My friend called the reception for three times to send slippers the day before and he got nothing until check out. Really amazing service.

This place is a real treat! I booked a room early in the morning for that same day. When I arrived, they told me they would prepare a room for me ASAP. They let us check in at 10:00 am. I travel extensively. That kind of generosity from a hotel is rare. The place was supremely comfortable and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. I would definitely stay here again if/when I return to Stone Town.

We could not sleep all night long as we were on the 3rd floor underneath the rooftop and they were cleaning, rearranging furniture after midnight and then the kitchen/bakery started working in the middle of the night with open windows. It was so noisy that we complained at 4 am in the morning at the reception. Answer - let me check. But the noise continued. We were checking out at 6 am to go to the airport and I saw that a couple had left before us and had as well complained about the noise.

The hotel is perfectly located inside stone town next to the old fort. The rooms are a good size and clean. The hotel reastaurant is on the roof top which is very pleasant in the evenings. The food is good and varied. The views from there are stunning. There is live music every night at the restaurant which is a treat. The concierge is excelent and was very accomadating to all our needs.
The beds were a bit sensitive to motion, so you could feel your partner moving in bed.

This is a beautiful hotel, close to everything in Stonetown. The staff are very friendly, the views from the rooftop are great, and we really liked their bathrooms.
There was a lot of noise from construction going on, which made it impossible to take a nap after our journey to Stonetown. Also, the mattress could be more comfortable.

When i was choosing this place, it was after reading all the reviews about hotels in stonetown, from top to bottom throughout all the review sites on the net. It was horrible reviews about all the hotels except this one,and i thought it must be too good to be true! But No, it is truly very, very good in reality, everything is 10/10
The staff is 100% the most service minded people in stowntown. The rooms and what i get in there is like 5* hotel, the facilities are so beautiful. And literally walking distance 5-10 min around the historical places and famously spots in stowntown.
What u get for the price u pay is sooo cheap!
Right now i arrived in a 5* hotel in Nungwi, and Boy' Maru maru hotel felt more like a 5* than this one here.

The room was spacious, and very clean, hotel in the best location. The driver is kind, treated us well, and a very proud man of his country and has high dreams for it. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is very nice inside, the pictures dont really do it justice.
The breakfast is not good, dry, overcooked, and they have a variety of fruits to make juice for breakfast, but for some reason its watermelon juice every day, its not good. The noise by the staff, no peaceful rest during the day, the pulling of furniture so early in the morning, surely we are not the first client to raise this concern.

Our room was very clean and cozy with a super shower. It offers everything you need for a short stay. Breakfast was served on the roof terrace and it was superb, with different choices each day.
Service was exemplary. We reported problems connecting to WiFi and the next day an IT engineer had visited and fixed the issue. They even left a bottle of wine to say "sorry for the inconvenience".
The hotel hosts live music each night until 10.30pm, but the noise stops punctually. Given the central location, there is noise in the morning from the call to prayer and from a nearby school. If you are very sensitive to noise, you should take this into consideration.

The music at night was quite loud in the room (but stopped at 10pm so not a big deal), there was a good bit of noise from furniture moving above us.

The view from the top / terrace restaurant was amazing as it gives a glimpse of buildings of stone town as well as the sea. Lovely spot to enjoy meals or drinks at any time of the day.
All the staff was very courteous and helpful.
The interior design and ambience of the hotel is very neat and aligned to local architecture.
The food at the restaurant wasnt up to mark, whether it be the Indian cuisines or any other. The spread and quality of breakfast can definitely improve.
The room I stayed in was spacious but didnt have any view. The windows were shut and not sure if they have any scope of being opened.

I liked the express check-in that was offered this time. I was also impressed by the tremendous improvement to their rooftop restaurant menu and quality of food. The breakfast spread was good, and the lunch and dinner menu offered a good variety of local as well as international dishes. The nightly live music also provided good entertainment.
1. The layout of their rooftop buffet could be better. They could cluster things better; e.g. if you want to eat cereal in the morning, the cereal is on one side of the terrace, and the milk on the other. Bread on one side, and the egg cooking station on the other. They need to think of a better set up so one doesn't have to go back and forth across the terrace. 2. Despite repeated reports to the management, on previous stays as well as this one, the management didn't seem to care to do anything about the lousy WIFI offered. To get any connection, you need to stand next to the room door. You move inside, you lose connection. Mesh routers are so cheap nowadays, I don't know why they don't care to improve things. Very disappointing! 3. For the first time, I didn't see my room turned down in the evening--not even once. 4. The hotel staff room needs to be relocated. The staff make such horrible noises all day and until very late at night.

Great location and central to most things.
The rooms were clean and nicely decorated.
Mosquito nets on the beds and i would recommend using them, as the little pests can get into the rooms.
Breakfast was a great choice and i would recommend it.
Though the room service for we ordered, was not really that nice, the pizza had an odd taste to it and the chicken wings didn't have much flavour.
There only other thing to be careful of is that when it rains, the road directly outside the hotel seems to get really deep and almost a small river.
Nice hotel though and i would stay here again.
Food is hit and miss and the road outside can flood quite deep in the rain.

The location is really convenient, in the middle of the shopping area, surrounded by all of the important sights in Stone Town. A lovely rooftop restaurant and bar.
I don't know whether it was just the case of our room, but we found it very noisy, close to the cleaning staff room, you could hear everything that was going on outside your room. Also, there is live music on the rooftop in the evening and you can hear it all the way from the 1st floor, so probably not the best place to rest.

The breakfast spread was awesome. It had a lot of variety. The location of the hotel is also very strategic; close to shops, the market, Freddie Mercury museum, transportation and the Forodhani night food market (a must visit). Oh and the breathtaking views from the terrace restaurant. Bonus: we had an early flight out of Zanzibar and breakfast was still provided for us.
It could be a little quieter (especially early in the morning). The workers chat quite noisily. The waitresses could do well to polish up on their English speaking skills.
