His warmth and genuine hospitality set the tone for our entire stay, going above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed.
Our room was spacious, beautifully maintained, and provided all the comforts we could ask for. Each morning, we looked forward to breakfast on the rooftop, where Queen would serve us an array of delicious options. She greeted us with a smile every day, and the food was simply fresh, flavorful, and made with care. The rooftop views were breathtaking, adding even more magic to the experience.

We stayed here for 2 nights, and it was perfect! The location is in the centre of town, and the rooftop gives you a wonderful view of the city. The staff is really helpful and friendly. The complimentary breakfast is wonderful, really tasty! We stayed in a room with and without a balcony. Both were great, especially given the price, but the one with the balcony was especially lovely and very spacious. We can not recommend this place enough!

We have stayed at many properties in Stonetown over the last few years and Treasures has now become our favourite. It’s the first place in Stonetown that we stayed that was so easy to find(it’s easy to get lost in Stonetown). The rooms are so spacious, really good beds, excellent smart tv in the rooms too, wonderful breakfast served by the gorgeous Queen. All the staff and manager are so friendly and welcoming.
There is a fridge and kettle in the room but unfortunately no water or tea/coffee are provided, this is only a small thing but would make the stay extra nice.

The rooftop lounge is perfect for resting after a busy, intensive day in Stone Town. Above all this, the manager, Jabri, and all the staff are super welcoming and friendly; you can ask them for an extra sheet, for restaurant recommendations, or to organize a trip; they are there to help. The bathroom could have been a little bit better maintained, and the wifi is not that strong/goes off sometimes, but these don't matter compared to the pro-s.

I felt so welcomed and the owner helped me to book so many different tours to see this beautiful Island.The breakfast was nice and the staff is lovely. The guy that came to pick me up at the airport has been the best ever, very kind, ,10/10! They've helped me to feel secure at all times. The room was clean and the shower was nice. The bathroom was fresh and new. I even liked the shanpoo, it made my hair soft! I also slept well in the bed. It has no mosquito net but there is AC and a fan in the room and I didn't get any mosquitos bites there. If I come to Stone Town again I would love to come back to the same place. We had an excellent stay at Treasures of Zanzibar! The location is unbeatable for exploring Stone Town on foot, just a 5-minute walk to the Old Fort and close to a nearby shop for essentials like water. The rooftop lounge and dining area offered breathtaking views and provided a unique perspective of Stone Town's charm.
The rooms were cool and comfortable, with efficient air conditioning, spacious bathrooms, and even a fridge—making our stay most enjoyable. The high-speed, consistent internet was a huge bonus for staying connected.
A big highlight was the friendly and helpful manager, Jabri, and the attentive staff, who went out of their way to ensure we had a smooth experience. The on-site laundry service was both affordable and efficient, adding to the overall convenience of the stay.
We highly recommend Treasures of Zanzibar for its comfort, amenities, and exceptional location.
There wasn’t anything about the hotel or its location that we didn’t enjoy. However, it’s worth noting that Stone Town’s layout can make it easy to lose your bearings. Additionally, since the hotel is located in a pedestrian area, you can’t drive directly to the entrance. That said, the hotel’s driver was exceptionally helpful, carrying our luggage right to the front door.

This is a restored, solid building with a large, airy rooftop lounge and dining area where the staff provide an amazing and delicious breakfast of the best local foods and beverages (unmatched by any of the other 3 hotels and resorts I experienced). This very affordable, 8-room hotel will meet the needs of most travelers looking for something a bit different, just a few streets away from the hustle and bustle of the larger hotels and short, 8-minute walk to the waterfront. The carpet, excellent beds (firm mattresses), great shower pressure, and cozy nook with two chairs made for a pleasant room experience. Morning sounds featured the call to prayer from a nearby mosque and a neighborhood rooster (not detectable with AC on). The room was large and had good natural lighting. The hotel has outstanding staff -- from the manager and reception staff, to the guys who will carry your bags up the stairs (no elevator) and the ladies who made and served breakfast so cheerfully. The best by far was the airport shuttle driver, Ebue, who also helped us find great street and restaurant food, wholesale-priced spices, and went out of his way on multiple occasions to make sure our trip was perfect. 100 percent recommend this hotel to people who are looking for a non-hotel chain and a great local vibe. Cute gift shop in the reception area, where local artisans bring their wares. Hotel transfer/shuttle prices are fair and reasonable.
I loved it all, but some travelers may not be able to navigate the stairs or the lack of direct auto access to the building. The driver will port your luggage the two blocks from the nearest parking.

It was very hot on the days we were there and the air conditioning does not seem to work well for the size of the room. Often you can feel the really cool air right away, but that was not the case here.
The mattress is also very very hard. Too hard for most Europeans I think. The owner does want to buy toppers for this, but that may take a while.

All the staff were very friendly and accommodating, and Jabri helped us to organise all of our excursions in Stone Town, as well as our transport to our next hotel. Eboui, our driver, was also very friendly and excellent. Breakfast was delicious and the rooftop terrace was beautiful too. Room was really comfortable and had everything we needed.
We had to buy drinking water as there was none in the room. This wasn't a big problem at all but would be our only point of improvement.

The room we had was simple and really spacious. We had a big bed with a very comfortable - I think also - new mattress. The rooftop breakfasts were great. Staff was always available to help.

Great location and value. Friendly staff and a proper svahili breakfast included! The reception is in the tidy shop and the owner know a lot of stuff about where does the things come from, materials and selling the real stuff apart from other shops.

We were very happy with the hotel and all the staff. The owner, Cabry, is a great person. He loves to chat and does everything to make sure guests leave happy. He helped us with all our problems and solved them all. They arranged the best guides for our tours and took care of all our transportation. Ebue was an amazing driver. The hotel’s breakfast is very nice. The location is great—right next to the stores and just a 3-minute walk to the beach. If you want to stay in Stone Town, don’t think too much—just stay here!

A very friendly greeting from the staff in this family run business. Lovely roof terrace with a good breeze for breakfast or to relax at anytime.
The breakfast was excellent and the cook was very kind and provided vegan / vegetarian options- lovely to try something new.
Very centrally located in one of the narrow streets in the centre of town so only 5-19 minutes walk to popular sites to visit.
The reception to the hotel is located in the Treasures of Zanzibar gift shop

The staff was very nice and the breakfast super tasty with local items. They had surprisingly good wifi (we were on the ground floor next to the router) and I was able to do a 2 hour call without great difficulties.
The rooms are very basic, i felt good for our 3 nights, but i wouldn't like to spend a longer holiday there.

The hotel is located in the old town, you can't reach it directly by car. For us it was an advantage, closer to local residents. The rooms are simple but comfortable and clean. Breakfast served on the roof of the building, tasty, standard and sufficient. The owner is helpful in every area: sim cards, transfers from the airport, advice on local restaurants, trips. I recommend.

We stayed at Treasures of Zanzibar at the end of our honeymoon and the whole staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable! The taxi driver was friendly and on time. The owner gave us a generous room upgrade and made sure we knew our way around Stone Town on our way out. The manger helped us find our way to dinner and made sure we felt comfortable. Queen prepared a delicious breakfast for us in the morning. The whole staff made us feel safe and welcome! Air conditioning was great too :) It was an awesome location right in the heart of stone town, beautiful building with a rooftop lounge and the people who work here are wonderful!

Location is excellent, in the heart of Stone Town, close to everything and still quiet, specially during the night. Spacey room. Uncomplicated staff. Flexibility with check-in and checkout whenever possible. General quiet atmosphere in the property. Rooftop. Good fridge, kettle, glasses available. Overall a good stay.
Limited breakfast, noisy works in the neighbouring building during our stay (not the property fault, but not the guest's fault either), some details easily fixable (examples: door doesn't close without the key, bathroom door dragging on the floor). I usually don't use TV but for some reason tried to get this one working and couldn't. Unstable internet.

The cost was low. The room is big, has AC and fan that kept us cool during night. The personnel was nice and breakfast was good. It is in the middle of the stonetown, so it was short walking distance to everything.
The room was probably clean, but it didn’t feel like it. Seems like the rooms might need some upgrade.

Wow, what a beautiful place and what a treat! If you can - take a room with a balcony — it’s great! Jabry made me feel really welcome! Such a nice host! He helped also with some small things I needed to do before leaving. Queen was friendly and cooked breakfasts at the rooftop with a wonderful view. Ebue - is not only a good driver, but also he helped me a lot by arranging the delivery of some things I forgot in the previous hotel. They made my time in Stonetown really spherical and enjoyable. I would def recommend this hotel and also stonetown is woooooooonderful!

The staff is really friendly, welcoming and helpful. It is located very centrally in Stone Town and is very affordable compared to other hotels.
The bathroom really needs a makeover. Even if it was clean it was still very worn out and had quite a lot of ants crawling around.

They arranged everything we needed on spot and were very accommodating when we arrived 5 hours earlier than our check-in time & offered us free breakfast (Delicious) even tho the hotel was fully booked.

Very nice hotel with friendly staff and an interesting back story (ask Jabri, the manager about it). Rooms are big and clean and the breakfast on the rooftop was excellent. The airport transfer also went very well given that our flight was extremely delayed and the airline didn’t publish tracking info. The driver waited nearly 6 hours for us in the middle of the night but was right outside to greet us when we arrived.

The breakfast was wonderful- authentic food and the best staff. The location was very central and near to anything. When we arrived the bed was VERY firm/ hard but the following morning we asked about it and the owner explained that they were new mattress that hadn’t been broken in yet. He provided cushions that were much better and we stayed two more nights. Taxi was also convenient and well run.
Initially the bed was very hard but they fixed it for us :)

Owner was extremely nice and helpful. Breakfast was amazing, all local foods. Rest of staff was nice and helpful too. Room was spacious. A/C was incredible. Large mini fridge kept drinks ice cold.
No elevator, but staff will carry your bags. They even carried ours with a trolley to the market to meet our driver. Hot water is tricky, but works. Bed is ROCK hard. Our last night saw a mini invasion of small flying bugs. Unsure where they came from and that was the only time we saw any insects. It's about a 3 to 5min walk from the closest place a car can park.

Great location close to everything we wanted to see (cool narrow streets with no cars). Very impressed with breakfast and wifi. Keep in mind it is beside a mosque and you will hear the call to prayer. Friendly and helpful manager/owner. Overall recommend!

The staff were welcoming and friendly, the food was outstanding, and the service to clients’ desires rather than trying to push activities was appreciated. The rooftop for breakfast and for relaxing was well worth the 4 flights of stairs to access.
The bed was a little too firm for me, but may be fine for others.

8 mins walk from anywhere in stone town. taxi walked us to the hotel with our luggage as no cars allowed. room was spacious, bed extra extra firm and wifi was spotty. staff beyond just friendly. breakfast was the same both days. lucky I was offered an omelet as the starch products were not to my liking. we paid $56usd/night and airport taxi was $15usd. we would stay here again for that value. thanks to the Queen, sahid and the rest of the staff :-)
